Physician Assessment
The physician reviews the reason for your visit, relevant health information and whether acupuncture may be appropriate.
Treatment
If clinically appropriate, acupuncture may be provided only after the physician discusses the proposed treatment with you and obtains your informed consent.
Follow-Up
The physician will discuss whether additional treatment, follow-up or another healthcare pathway may be appropriate.
About private-pay services
Acupuncture is an uninsured service under the PEI Health Services Payment Act Regulations. Pain5.ca charges privately only for services that may lawfully be provided on a private-pay basis. The availability of a private service does not mean that every requested medical service can be purchased privately.
If the treating physician determines that you require an insured medical service, diagnostic assessment or another publicly insured healthcare service, that service will not be sold privately through Pain5.ca. Pain5.ca does not sell preferential access to publicly insured physician services.
The applicable private-pay fee will be disclosed before the service is provided and before you agree to proceed.

When Pain5.ca is not the right service
Pain5.ca is not an emergency service. Call 911 or seek emergency medical care for severe or potentially life-threatening symptoms, which may include severe chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, sudden weakness or paralysis, sudden loss of consciousness, major trauma, signs of stroke, severe uncontrolled bleeding, or another medical emergency.
Pain5.ca should not delay urgent or emergency assessment.
